[Technical Column] Issue 13: Air Conditioning Systems and Challenges of Electric Vehicles

Insufficient heating source! This problem will become more pronounced when fully switching to electric vehicles!

In this column, we will discuss the air conditioning methods and challenges of electric vehicles. As shown in the diagram of the refrigeration cycle, the air that exchanges heat with the refrigerant in the evaporator becomes cold air, which is used for air conditioning in the summer. However, to achieve the preferred temperature for the occupants, it is necessary to mix this with warm air generated by the heater core. The hot water entering the heater core is the cooling water from the radiator. In recent years, the popularity of hybrid vehicles has led to a shortage of this heating source. This is due to the reduced heat generation from the engine, as it operates intermittently. Especially in winter, the lack of heating has led to practical methods of supplementation, such as using electric heaters (PTC heaters). When fully transitioning to electric vehicles, this issue will become even more pronounced. *For more detailed information about the column, please refer to the related links. [Case Study] Improved Dust Collection Efficiency through Optimal Airflow Control

Cleaning of powder filling processes! A case study demonstrating efficient dust collection and achieving high cleanliness.

This is a case study from a chemical company. They were facing the problem of product scattering during the filling process of powdered products. Although the filling area was temperature-controlled, they were also struggling with poor balance in the intake and exhaust, leading to low air conditioning efficiency. In response, we proposed a distribution air conditioning system by installing a large air conditioning unit with sufficient capacity and supplying air to each room through a Fan Filter Unit (FFU). As a result, we designed an automatic linkage system that allows for appropriate intake based on the exhaust volume, achieving stable room pressure management. [Issues] ■ A dust collector is installed, but it only functions near the intake area. ■ A cleanliness level of Class 10000 is required. ■ Air conditioning is ineffective. ■ There are five separate rooms, each requiring individual room pressure control. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Example] Implementation case of ductless air conditioning technology

Introducing a constant temperature and humidity control system in a large space, with examples of practical implementation in a precision metal machinery factory!

We would like to introduce an implementation example of the constant temperature air conditioning system "Ductless Air Conditioning Technology" in a large space, precision metal machining factory. Due to the installation of a hoist crane in the upper part of the building, there is no duct space above the process area, which is a constraint. As an improvement system, we used an induction fan to draw and diffuse the blown air, achieving uniform constant temperature conditions (±2°C) and energy savings in the large space. As a result of continuous temperature measurements conducted over three days at FL+1000, +450, and +8000, we satisfied the design condition of ±2°C at all levels. 【Required Specifications】 ■ Air Conditioning Conditions: Summer 26±2°C / Winter 18-2°C (Air Conditioning Guarantee Height: 4m for one building / 8m for two buildings) ■ Constraints: As it is a machining factory with a hoist crane installed in the upper part of the building, there is no duct space above the process area (only above the hoist). ■ Notes: The arrangement of the induction SF fans should allow for uniform indoor temperature and avoid interference with the hoist. ■ Total Floor Area: 9,500m² ■ Building Height: 12.5m for one building / 18m for two buildings *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Case Study of Air Conditioning System Implementation: Pharmaceutical Company D

16.4% power reduction during multi-heating for buildings! Achieving energy savings during heating, which was considered very difficult in the refrigeration cycle!

We would like to introduce a case study of Company D, a pharmaceutical company that implemented our air conditioning system. The reduction of CO2 emissions has become a national issue and is considered an obligation for companies. The shortfall in the reduction targets set by the prefecture was addressed by purchasing CO2 emission rights. The company had exhausted all energy-saving measures and had no means left to reduce CO2 emissions. They wanted to save energy without changing the indoor environment, which led them to implement our air conditioning system. As a result, it has been considered very difficult to achieve energy savings during heating in the refrigeration cycle, but with the introduction of the Miracle Coil this time, a reduction of 16.4% during heating was confirmed. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
